I am very excited to see this film. As a fellow book club member, I can’t wait to see how this particular group gets on with 50 Shades of Grey?
The book club I attend is made up of 9 women and we meet up about once a month to catch-up, have a giggle, a bite to eat and a obligatory glass of something chilled and sparkling – and of course we occasionally even discuss the book!
My husband, who is a member of a men’s book club, always jokes that his is more organised than ours, in fact the name of their group is “The Men’s Organised Book Club”!
However, I see it as a positive that we spend some of the time finding out what we have all been up to or “putting the world to rights”. Getting together with the girls on a regular basis is great therapy. I always come away with a smile on my face and a general “feel good” feeling. There is so much to be said about a book club, even when you don’t necessarily always discuss literature!
So, I am really interested to know, for those who are members of a book club, how much time do you actually spend discussing the book in question? I would really love to know what goes, on and how your particular club is organized? Who are the characters and personalities in your group? What is it that encourages you to turn up every month? How do you work out which book is going to be your next read?
